Another really good one from NonStampCollector
Since the above video was the last one “NonStampCollector” did, I thought I would put the first one he did here as well.

And just for Fun, here is a similar one by Edward Current.

It is amazing how many times the story of Abraham and Isaac is offered as THE example of religious commitment. The resonning kind of goes like this:

If Abraham (who was VERY VERY religious) would be willing to sacrifice his one and only son to God, then certainly we can offer some lesser sacrifices… like giving a 10% tithe and committing all of our free time to the church.

People seem, though, to be blind to the fact that the story of Abraham sacrificing Isaac is totally absurd. What kind of God would make such a demand on anyone? Certainly no God I would want to have anything to do with.

Abrahamic religions have a conundrum. One the one hand, they would like to do away with the bloody troublesome parts of the Old Testament. On the other hand, if they do away with any parts of the bible, that may start a process that won’t finish until all of it has been done away with. Therefore, the Abrahamic religions are stuck with the Old Testament passages as bloody as they are.

Religious practitioners then become very adept at skipping over the bad parts and concentrating on the good parts. It is amazing how bible-study lesson plans skip and leapfrog throughout the bible trying to put together a story about how God is all loving and kind.
